The Letter of the Law...Misunderstood Doctrines

When someone says the letter of the law is done away with through New Covenant, I ask, "What letter of what law?" Then they'll say, "You know, the old law." Then I say, "What old law?"

This is right where the conversation takes a 360 degree turn, because nobody has ever asked these questions before and it makes one stop and think. It's at this point when they say, "The new law did away with all that." Then I say, "What new law?" Now right here is when they quote;
Mat 22:36  Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Mat 22:37  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38  This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The first five commandments tell us how to love YHVH, and the last five tell us how to love our neighbors. Everything else in the law and the Prophets lays the doctrines for the 10 commandments. This is why Yahshua said on these two commandments HANG ALL the law and the prophets. Notice He didn't say some law.
ALL
G3650
ὅλος
holos
hol'-os
A primary word; “whole” or “all”, that is, complete (in extent, amount, time or degree), especially (neuter) as noun or adverb: - all, altogether, every whit, + throughout, whole.

LAW
G3551
νόμος
nomos
nom'-os
From a primary word νέμω nemō (to parcel out, especially food or grazing to animals); law (through the idea of prescriptive usage), generally (regulation), specifically (of Moses [including the volume]; also of the Gospel), or figuratively (a principle): - law.

I fail to see a new law! What I do recognize is that Yahshua came to bring salvation through his blood, so that we could remarry our first love. This eludes to a RENEWED Covenant, which is exactly what it means in the Hebrew.
The hottest contested principle though, is still the letter of the law. Again...what law and what is the letter of it?  The letter is the curse of death without the possibility of salvation, which is not a law, but what happens to us instead if we disobey His laws. We have salvation through repentance, through the blood of Messiah, but the wages of living in sin (transgression of His laws) is still death.
Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Yeshua Messiah our Lord.
So...the letter of the law still exists, except now we have a way to avoid it. That's exactly what Messiah said above.
Sin
SIN, n.Websters 1828 Dictionary

1. The voluntary departure of a moral agent from a known rule of rectitude or duty, prescribed by God; any voluntary transgression of the divine law, or violation of a divine command; a wicked act; iniquity. Sin is either a positive act in which a known divine law is violated, or it is the voluntary neglect to obey a positive divine command, or a rule of duty clearly implied in such command. Sin comprehends not action only, but neglect of known duty, all evil thoughts purposes, words and desires, whatever is contrary to God's commands or law. 1 John 3. Mat 15. James 4. Sinner neither enjoy the pleasures of nor the peace of piety. Among divines, sin is original or actual. Actual sin, above defined, is the act of a moral agent in violating a known rule of duty. Original sin, as generally understood, is native depravity of heart to the divine will, that corruption of nature of deterioration of the moral character of man, which is supposed to be the effect of Adam's apostasy; and which manifests itself in moral agents by positive act of disobedience to the divine will, or by the voluntary neglect to comply with the express commands of God, which require that we should love God with all the heart and soul and strength and mind, and our neighbor as ourselves. This native depravity or alienation of affections from God and his law, is supposed to be what the apostle calls the carnal mind or mindedness, which is enmity against God, and is therefore denominated sin or sinfulness. Unpardonable sin, or blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, is supposed to be a malicious and obstinate rejection of Christ and the gospel plan of salvation, or a contemptuous resistance made to the influences and convictions of the Holy Spirit. Mat 12.

2. A sin-offering; an offering made to atone for sin. He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin. 2 Cor 5.

3. A man enormously wicked. [Not in use.]

4. Sin differs from crime, not in nature, but in application. That which is a crime against society, is sin against God.

SIN, v.i.

1. To depart voluntarily from the path of duty prescribed by God man; to violate the divine law in any particular, by actual transgression or by the neglect or non-observance of its injunctions; to violate any known rule of duty. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Rom 3. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned. Psa 51.

2. To offend against right, against men or society; to trespass. I am a man more sinn'd against than sinning. And who but wishes to invert the laws of order, sins against the' eternal cause.

SIN,for since, obsolete or vulgar.

Noah Webster was fluent in Greek and Hebrew. What he said above follows perfectly, word for word with Rev 12:17, 14:12, and 22:14 among others. He said his most revered piece of work was translating a pure copy of the Torah into English, which is under glass to this day for all to see. He himself standardized the English language. Only we pervert his work. Even he knew what sin was. It is his definition of it that is rejected and replaced with something less. Those who preach replacement theologies have paid way too much for their theological seminary degrees. Salvation is not rocket science. These are things that we can figure out on our own in one day without the help from indoctrinated psychology majors.
Messiah's favorite response was, "It is written." It is written where? In the Torah and the prophets, what He called in Hebrew, the Tanak! Rarely are we instructed to go back to see exactly where it is written, and many people can't, because they were only issued a New Testament copy from the denomination where they got saved. That in itself is a heresy, and confuses the new believer rather than establishing understanding. It is a copy...a half truth...void of the evidence of the truth...the same truth where Messiah said were embedded in all the law and prophets. Would you accept half a car as complete, even if the dealer said it was? I have to realize that the sheep are a product of their teachers. It's not their fault...mostly. But I too was deceived simply because I didn't open the scriptures and do my own study. It was a willful decision from a lazy heart. Eventually, I received the love of the truth 2Th 2:10. Then I searched for it and found it. I repented for the traditions that were handed down to me, and I renounced my citizenship to my former denomination. Now I am charged to go fishing. Not every cast is successful. That's why It's called fishing! It's a process...finding productive and fertile waters.
Shalom (Peace to you).
